Richard McGhee - WITCHCRAFT (Free MP3)

Around this time of year I get really lonely for Richard McGhee. Here is a FREE MP3 download of Witchcraft (click here)(link disabled)by Richard McGhee *Star Vocalist* recorded at the Rain Station's Halloween Bash that we had many years ago. This tune features Richard McGhee *Star Vocalist* (click here to check him out LIVE). The track taken from a live recording (off the board) at a Halloween party at the Rain Station. We hired Richard McGhee *Star Vocalist* to be the entertainment at our party and I got a first class recording of his show.

Such a perfect time of year to celebrate Richard's life (see what I wrote about him in a previous post by clicking here). Such a perfect song for the Halloween season. His spirit lives on in my memory and his determination to be THE *Star Vocalist* that he was inspires me everyday to live my life to the fullest.

Your comments are appreciated.
Enjoy!

Happy Friday the 13th! and now a little Richard...

Happy Friday the 13th everyone! I thought since we're celebrating our second Friday the 13th in a row (February and now March - how'd we get so lucky) I'd upload a favorite track of mine. Here is a FREE MP3 download of Desperado (click here)(link disabled)by Richard McGhee *Star Vocalist* recorded at the Rain Station's Halloween Bash that we had many years ago. There is no perfect time of year to celebrate Richard's life (see what I wrote about him in a previous post by clicking here) and I find myself missing that time of my life when he was around to entertain us and give us his insights on life (things just seemed simpler).

Your comments are VERY MUCH appreciated.

Enjoy!

More Richard McGhee

My buddy Jay has posted some of Richard's music to download (here).
Every now and again I pause to think about Richard and his life and the life lessons he left us with.
Anyone can live their dream if they have the will to do it.
Richard had the will.
Jay and I were able (for a brief time) to be a part of Richard's life.

I asked Richard what he would want to say to the young people of America - to the children...
“I would say, if you love what you’re doing...don’t stop doing it. Keep doing it. Even if the going gets bad. Because there’ll be more good than bad...and live for the moment. Let the future take care of itself. Don’t and you know, live for the moment. The past is history; the past was fun, live for the moment”
See the interview I conducted with Richard here.

We miss you Richard McGhee, Star Vocalist!

Richard McGhee Star Vocalist Interview 1993

Hey folks...

It is HERE! My buddy Jay put my 1993 interview of Richard McGhee Star Vocalist up and it is available here in video format (you can even download it).

From Jay's site (here)...

Richard McGhee Star Vocalist (1993) QuickTime video 18.4 MB - 25 minutes.

Mark Harvey interviews Richard McGhee Star Vocalist.
I first met Richard McGhee in the Castro at the Cabaret DuNord. He reminded me of Harry Dean Stanton doing karaoke Sinatra standards, which if you think of it, sounds pretty cool. After his performance, I got to sit and talk with Richard a bit, and we became friends. I asked if I could make this video about him, and he agreed. I followed Richard McGhee around to a few gigs and recorded these early performances. Later on when Richard was playing the bigger venues like The Warfield, he would always get us back stage passes so we could help Richard prepare for his show. Opening for acts like Swell, Smashing Pumpkins, and The Cramps made Richard an overnight cult icon, and The Fillmore had him up in their lounge as a regular until Richard's dying day. I spoke with Richard on the phone the day he was packing up to head back to his mother's house. He had been diagnosed with cancer. Richard died 3 weeks later in Ohio near his family. An inspiration to us all, this site is dedicated to the memory of Richard McGhee Star Vocalist.
This video documentary was shot in San Francisco California, 1993 on VHS camera, edited between two VHS decks, and mastered onto VHS. Digital transfer 2003, compressed for the web 2008.

Thank You

Good EARLY morning everyone. Here is a FREE MP3 download of Thank You taken from the Nobody Records Sampler Volume One. Another mopehead song I recorded on the old 4-track. This tune features samples of Richard McGhee *Star Vocalist* (click here to check him out LIVE). The samples on "Thank You" were taken from a live recording (off the board) at a Halloween party at the Rain Station. We hired Richard McGhee *Star Vocalist* to be the entertainment at our party and I got a first class recording of his show (what a show it was!). My friend Jay Moores first met Richard performing at Cafe Du Nord. Jay asked Richard if he could do a documentary on him for public access TV (I got to be the host of the documentary...very cool). Jay recorded many of Richard's shows on VHS. Richard gave Jay and I many of his practice tapes that he recorded in his small Tenderloin apartment on a karaoke machine. Jay and I wrote a bizarre musical based on Thomas Edison's life. Richard was to play Edison, but he died of cancer about 2 weeks before we started. Richard's drive to be a star was amazing and is an inspiration to me every day. From Jay's website..."I met Ricard McGhee at Cabaret Du Nord in San Francisco's Castro. It was open mic night, and I really was touched by Richard's love for singing. He was an old guy, that didn't want to give up on his dream of being a singer. We became very close friends, and after a few years he became a cult favorite in the Bay Area. Bands like Smashing Pumpkins demanded that he would open for them, and he was in a few nifty rock videos by the band Swell. I love Richard, and he was going to play Thomas Edison in my musical movie project called, Thomas Edison's Daughter. However fate only allowed us to record his vocals, as he was diagnosed and died of cancer three weeks before we started to shoot. He was a great man, and inspires me to always live my dreams to this day." The Smashing Pumpkins show was amazing - Jay and I both wore our Richard McGhee *Star Vocalist* t-shirts as we were he entourage. Very, very cool moment in my life.

I plan to add more early Rain Station and mopehead tracks so keep an eye out and visit often. Your comments are appreciated.
Enjoy!
