More from October 23rd...

Well hello again friends and fiends,

As Halloween gets closer I tend to write more posts - usually no more than two per day, but still.

Tonight I'm posting some photos of cool things I found (and bought) at Cost Plus World Market.

Can go wrong with a meal of Halloween Pasta, right?

And you need to follow up a good pasta dinner with a Frankenbar or Bridebar.

I brought both of these boxes of candy out of the cupboard and first showed the box of Mike and Ike's Mummy's Mix to my son. He smiled and said "yay".  Then I showed him the Box of Boogers and he face went sideways.  My wife and I got a pretty big laugh out of that.

Wash all the treats down with a Shipyard Brewing Company Pumpkinhead and you're good.  I reviewed this beer a while back here.

I'm still on the hunt for more seasonal treats.  What have you found and where?

Happy Haunting!

October 23rd... the ghost in you

Good evening friends and fiends,

During the 31 Days of Halloween "sprint" I do each year there's a bunch of other blogs doing the same thing. John Rozum (here) has been putting together the "Countdown To Halloween" (here) for years and each year there are a number of really cool blogs to read, learn from, gawk at, and listen to.

I visit a number of these blogs daily to get my Halloween fix and tonight I found an incredible artist named the ghost in you (here) on The Spooky Vegan (here). Billy Polard, the man behind the music, has a number of incredible CDs available on Bandcamp (here). One of his tracks, "ten thirty one" is a beautiful Halloween track.

From his website (here), ""ten thirty one" is one of my more personal songs. It's my love letter to Halloween and all the nostalgia and emotions the fall season brings. Inspired by my memories of growing up in my old neighborhood, the leaves changing, carving jack o lanterns, my mom dressing up like a witch, the homemade costumes she made for me and my brothers, watching scary movies, and everything else that comes with the Halloween season. There's even a nod to "John Carpenter's Halloween", one of my favorite movies of all time."

He's got a video of the tune:

And you can listen instead of look if you prefer (and download the track):

I purchased a couple of his CDs from Bandcamp tonight.  Great music...I'm a fan!

Thank you, The Spooky Vegan for turning me onto this wonderful artist. the ghost in you, thank you for creating such incredible music.

Happy Haunting,

Mark Harvey
