October's Over

Well...October is over. My son and I carved a pumpkin last night. He wore his jack o' lantern costume, my wife and I wore Renaissance wear and we visited Brent Ross' DC Cemetery. We had a great time. Brent's set up is amazing and I only wish it was set up to check out year 'round. For years I have been looking for a place to be able to have a year 'round haunt where we can work on it as we go, month after month so it doesn't interfere with our family and job lives. Property managers? Inquire (please)...

Today I ran around town trying to track down a prop I saw at the Spirit Halloween store - a Rising Reaper...but didn't find one "new in box". I went to five Spirit locations. I did find one out of the box at the first store (probably should have bought it), but when the guys were packing it up (for me) they were being so rough with it that I was afraid it might end up broken (cheap plastic prop - $80 regularly, on sale for $40). The second Spirit I went to told me that they had four of them (one that was on the floor) and they were all broken (so I guess I made the right decision?). Eventually I put out an APB ("Please go to your local Spirit and see if you can find me this prop...PLEASE"), first to some friends via text message and then on Facebook, but so far no one has confirmed that they've scored me one. I'm pretty sure I'm out of luck.
At the third Spirit I visited I did end up purchasing a Swamp Zombie..."Swamp Zombie is coming to get you! Right out of a horror movie, his outstretched arms with gnarled bony fingers are just a hair's breath away from your throat! This gruesome lifesize Swamp Zombie ( he's over six feet tall) prop is a Spirit EXCLUSIVE, not available anywhere else and utterly realistic and creepy. Black and green LED lights flash from the head, hands and feet of Swamp Zombie to add an eerie touch and create an especially spooky swamp aura..." so I felt pretty good about that.

Anyhow, Halloween is over and it is now time to turn my attention to next year.

Well, October is over. Mark, I hope you get that rising reaper... and I hope it's in the greatest condition possible. I don't like my things roughed up either. I wish Halloween was on a Saturday every year. A lot more families were out and about. It was a beautiful thing. I hope all of you ghouls reading this enjoyed yourselves as well. Well, guess what? You better prepare yourselves.

364 days and counting....Halloween is coming.

Hi Jason...thank you for purchasing Pumpkinland! No, I didn't get the Rising Reaper after all. I'm a little bummed about that, but that's how things go, you know? How was your Halloween? What did you do? Did you dress up? Indeed...Halloween approaches once again and it will be sooner than you think! Thank you for reading and commenting, Jason...you rock!

I did dress up, but nothing too fancy. I put a couple of glow stick necklaces around my neck and wore my trusty ski mask... LOL! I went out with some relatives and checked out the neighborhoods around town. I was surprised to see so many people out. I couldn't believe it. There were a lot of cool houses out there. We were tempted to ring a doorbell or two for a little treat. We didn’t, but I did find some stray candy on the ground for myself. Score! Anyway, it was a fun, relaxing day.
