Grainy Beige - a FREE MP3 - tryin' to keep up with the funk
Here is a FREE MP3 download of "Grainy Beige" (click here to download). This instrumental track is unreleased and didn't make the instrumental mopehead cut. This track was written during a period of time while living in SF at the original Rain Station. Recorded on the good old Tascam 4-track in the musty dank of the studio there. At the time I had a couple of roommates from Mississippi - one of whom worked with me at the good guys! on Geary in SF. (Where's Jimmy Tombs anyhow?)
Jimmy worked in the car stereo department and would at times offer to install stereos outside of the job (a big no no) to young, beautiful women. I'd hang out down in the studio (next to the garage) while he'd install stereos. I'd record music or tinker around (making sure that they'd hear the tracks I was working on). Some "dancer" types came through on occasion and as the news grew that he'd do the installs cheaper than the good guys! he got some after hours work and our garage got some after hours entertainment (not THAT kind of entertainment). Fun times.
So here's the continuation of the bunch of dance tracks I'll be posting over the next few weeks. Ya'll come by often to get that little taste of mopehead funk.
I have a bunch of these instrumentals (unreleased) and I plan to give 'em away here over time. My unreleased music as well as my released tracks have made it onto soundtracks and I'm always happy to lend a track to a film, TV show or indie project.
Enjoy the FREE track and drop me a comment.
Remember, all of my CDs are available for purchase at NobodyRecords.com.

Bouncy song. Yes, I can definitely picture the fun being had. Lots and lots of bouncing... Because you were watching the basketball game on the boob tube. Um.... right? boob- yes tube-no.
Seriously though, that's a cool memory. The cool evening air, music, and garage activities make a good combination. The funk continues... Change the name of this blog to SoulTrainUniversity.com.
Yeah...there wasn't a lot of bouncing really. Just beautiful women hanging out in the garage while Jimmy hooked up stereos. I wish there was more to tell...
You did your homework, SoulTrainUniversity.com IS available. Now if I could only justify having that dot com...other than it would be funny as heck!
