MLK, Jr. Day at Tilden Park
I spent MLK, Jr. Day at Tilden Park with my daughter. We had a great day. We visited the "Little Farm" and fed the cows, ducks, turkeys, sheep and goats.
We then had a great picnic lunch and afterwards we made our way over to the Carousel for a bunch of rides. I found out that it was built in 1911. Tilden's Herschell Spillman merry-go-round is an antique carousel with hand-carved and beautifully painted wooden carousel animals to ride. The calliope plays music to make any child's heart sing. For those who live in the SF Bay Area it is well worth a trip to Tilden Park. I took tons of pictures, but they don't do this Carousel justice. If you do go to Tilden take a ride on the steam train and/or a pony ride as well (We didn't have time to check to see if they were open). There is so much to do there that you can spend the whole day there just enjoying nature and taking in the beauty that is Tilden.
